Senior Chemist – Materials Engineering & Manufacturing Support - Space Systems (Onsite)

About the role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Chemist – Materials Engineering & Manufacturing Support within our Chemistry Laboratory. This role involves operating and maintaining analytical chemistry equipment, performing wet chemistry, developing test methods, collecting and analyzing samples, and interacting with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining/troubleshooting analytical chemistry equipment (GC, IC, ICP, UV-vis, FTIR, TOC analyzer, Karl Fischer titrator).
• Performing wet chemistry, including titrations and chemical processing.
• Applying analytical chemistry knowledge to develop and refine test methods.
• Collecting and analyzing fluid, residue, and debris samples using aseptic techniques.
• Identifying unknown materials and assisting in investigations of out-of-specification hardware.
• Managing inventory of supplies, reagents, standards, and chemicals.
• Maintaining good laboratory practices and ensuring a safe, clean work area.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• Security clearance is not required.
• Must have at least 2 years of analytical chemistry experience.
• At least 2 years of analytical chemistry experience preferred.
