Senior CEI Project Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a Senior CEI Project Engineer for our Transportation Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) program in Tallahassee, FL. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day CEI project operations, provide technical guidance, review and evaluate contractor submittals, and lead project meetings.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day CEI project operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, governing regulations, and safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance to the project team, interpret plans and specifications, and resolve field issues while documenting and communicating decisions clearly.
- Review and evaluate Contractor submittals, including RFIs, CPM schedules, and claim packages, and provide well-supported recommendations.
- Ensure CEI documentation, materials records, and correspondence meet contract, CPAM, and quality standards.
- Lead and coordinate CEI project staff, ensuring high-quality documentation, communication, and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Lead project meetings and coordinate with contractors, clients, and stakeholders to support progress and issue resolution.
- Manage project budgets, track labor usage, and support overall financial performance and forecasting.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, partners, and other project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance in technical, administrative, and leadership growth areas.
- Support business development by identifying future work opportunities and participating in pursuit activities.
Requirements
- FDOT Advanced MOTRoad and/or bridge construction experience.
- CTQP Quality Control experience.
- 3 years of construction/transportation project leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
- 10 years related experience in various aspects of construction including estimating, bidding, preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering.
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software.
- Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
