Senior Cad Operator

About the role

Serves as the drafting lead, discipline designer and/or drafting approver on multiple projects. The position is responsible for providing illustrated computerized drafting according to project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform computer aided drafting (CAD) for preparation of engineering drawings using industry appropriate software; uses standard symbol sets and drawings to minimize drawing effort.
• Perform hand drafting as needed.
• Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals.
• Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other data, using computer-aided design (CAD), according to client specifications.
• Submit documentation packages and produce drawing sets and standard operating procedures.
• Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
• Train subordinate CAD Operators and help establish drafting standards for the company.
• Purchase or recommend purchase of all needed hardware and supplies.
• Act as initial contact with clients or other departments; ensure the CAD systems are kept up to date with current hardware/software and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
• Classify and organize engineering drawings.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning; report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5–7 years practical CAD experience.
• Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in graphic or drafting technology preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
