About the role
Serves as the drafting lead, discipline designer and/or drafting approver on multiple projects. The position is responsible for providing illustrated computerized drafting according to project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform computer aided drafting (CAD) for preparation of engineering drawings using industry appropriate software; uses standard symbol sets and drawings to minimize drawing effort.
- Perform hand drafting as needed.
- Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals.
- Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other data, using computer-aided design (CAD), according to client specifications.
- Submit documentation packages and produce drawing sets and standard operating procedures.
- Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
- Train subordinate CAD Operators and help establish drafting standards for the company.
- Purchase or recommend purchase of all needed hardware and supplies.
- Act as initial contact with clients or other departments; ensure the CAD systems are kept up to date with current hardware/software and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
- Classify and organize engineering drawings.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning; report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5–7 years practical CAD experience.
- Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in graphic or drafting technology preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
