Senior Buyer - Surface Materials
About the role
The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors to support plant and customer requirements. The role includes direct commodity buying responsibility, strategic planning, negotiation of long-term agreements, and development of commodity strategies.
Responsibilities
- Direct commodity buying responsibility
- Plan and accomplish strategic goals through work experience and judgment
- Negotiate long-term agreements and achieve yearly savings
- Develop commodity strategies to achieve results
- Understand commercial terms and total cost management concepts
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years commodity purchasing experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related business field or equivalent experience
- Data-driven analysis and negotiating techniques
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- High level of integrity
- Prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively
- Action-oriented approach and producing results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing environment
- Superior conflict resolution skills while maintaining strong relationships
- Independent workload prioritization, focusing on critical activities
Requirements
- MBA (Preferred)
- Adequate automotive cross-functional experience (Recommended)
- Experience with Polyurethane Foam commodities (Preferred)
- Previous SAP ERP experience (Preferred)
