About the Role

The Buyer supports Contract Administrators with post-award contract administration activities, interacts with suppliers, and works closely with the Shipping/Receiving Department. This role contributes to enhancing project success by limiting risks and liabilities related to supplier performance, on-time deliveries, invoice payments, and timely subcontract/PO closeouts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to excellence, flexibility, and the ability to interface professionally with suppliers, management, and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Contract Administrator to prepare reports identifying subcontracts ready for closeout, initiate the closeout process, and ensure monthly closure.
  • Track upcoming and past-due POs weekly, document reasons for past-due lines, and update request delivery dates to reflect supplier commitments.
  • Monitor POs that have exceeded 75% of the award value monthly.
  • Assist the Contract Administrator in resolving invoice issues to ensure timely supplier payments.
  • Contact suppliers to verify active Certificates of Insurance (COI) on file.
  • Follow up with suppliers on PO status to ensure on-time delivery and notify the Contract Administrator of any delays.
  • Collaborate with the Shipping/Receiving Department to ensure all items are received correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with new supplier screening.
  • Process small-dollar (P-card) procurement requisitions in support of lab activities.
  • Resolve invoicing deficiencies, such as match exceptions.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Procurement Director or Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or Associate Degree with a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience, or Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 1 year of prior related experience.
  • Military experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (preferred).
  • Experience working in a U.S. Government (DOE or DOD) environment (preferred).
  • Understanding of warehouse, shipping/receiving, and/or material handling.
  • Nuclear or related experience (preferred).
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • High degree of trust, integrity, and openness; desire to foster teamwork.

  • Special Senses: Visual and audio-focused work.
  • Work Conditions: Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of more than 8 hours/day.
  • Travel: 0-10%.

Pay

Salary Range: $102,804 - $154,206 (specific to Washington State). Offers are typically placed in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Salary is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications and experience.

TerraPower's technology is controlled for export by various U.S. Government agencies. Applicants who are foreign nationals (other than asylees, refugees, or lawful permanent residents) will be evaluated in accordance with U.S. Government export control requirements. Export authorization approval times vary, and TerraPower may not consider foreign nationals from certain countries if timely approval is impractical.
