Senior Buyer

About the role

The Senior Buyer will research and purchase products to meet the material needs of our organization. They are responsible for finding suppliers, arranging the distribution to several retail outlets, and supervising other purchasing agents.

Responsibilities

• Buys material utilizing the MRP system
• Purchase order acknowledgements & manage exceptions (quantity, price & delivery date)
• Expedite parts due to late delivery or as identified in shortage reports/meetings
• Blanket PO management
• Understand cause of issues & recommend/implement solutions using Root Cause / Corrective Analysis
• Ability to manage more challenging & strategic suppliers; smaller tactical workload
• Initial escalation points for Buyers / Associate Buyers. Also responsible for further escalation as needed
• Ordering parameter management (within standard guidelines)
• Establish plans to address key and systemic supply chain issues
• Use experience and reasoning to identify issues early
• Implements supplier agreements (Kanban agreements, volume contracts, etc.) when beneficial by working with suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
• Lead supplier calls (Regular reviews, forecast discussions, key issue resolution)
• Supplier performance monitoring. Support collection & presentation of supplier performance metrics and address performance issues in regular supplier reviews
• Analysis skills highly preferred- ability to run reports in MRP system and utilize tools such as Excel, PowerBI, etc. to analyze
• Identifies and works process improvements
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or related experience
• Three to five years of previous buyer experience
• Mechanical aptitude
• Experience in manufacturing and MRP systems
• SAP experience a plus
• Experience with a large number of suppliers
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaker preferred
