Job Summary Responsible for the purchase of all materials related to production Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Carry out necessary follow-up and expediting activities to ensure delivery as required by production schedule. Solicit and analyze quotations for new and/or existing items. Recommend substitutes where a savings in cost will result. Interview suppliers regarding materials, terms, and lead-time to negotiate best purchase for the company. Assist all departments to obtain proper specs., quotations, deliver and cost as required. Contact all suppliers regarding quality issues and resolves reject issues in the company's best interest. Maintain an appropriate file of catalogs, price lists, quotations and other correspondence. Responsible for all MRO plant supply purchases. Reviews purchase order suggestion report and Kan Ban cards and place orders accordingly. Check for requisitions through Syteline and place orders accordingly. Communicate pick-ups and deliveries as needed to the ROM truck driver. Other duties as assigned. Education, Experience And Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. Two plus years of experience in purchasing. Overall knowledge of purchasing functions. Ability to communicate with outside sources for information related to purchasing. Ability to communicate with vendors and represent the company's needs. Work Environment And Physical Requirements Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English plus have adequate hearing and visual acuity. Working environment is in an air-conditioned cubical with occasionally physically going into an unheated/air conditioned manufacturing/warehouse setting. Safety glasses with side shields are required in the production area. Must effectively communicate on the telephone while entering data on computer. Frequent reaching, gripping, and carrying up to 50 lbs., standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting and walking in addition to being seated a good portion of the day. Good communication skills are required in addition to understanding verbal and written instruction. Must handle multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast paced work environment.
