About the role
The Senior Buyer contributes to the competitive status and profitable operation of the company through creative sourcing and procuring of materials and services in a timely manner and at optimum value. This role acts as the primary contact between suppliers and internal customers, managing supplier performance, material flow, purchase orders, and delivery expediting. The Senior Buyer also communicates material shortages, late deliveries, or non-conformances and spearheads solutions to mitigate production disruptions. Domestic travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and participate in economical procurement methods and value analysis programs
- Create purchase orders to meet in-yard dates, manage supplier performance, and maintain pricing, supplier database, and orders in the ERP system
- Communicate with Engineering, Production, Finance, Warehousing, and Purchasing on material specifications, expediting, invoice reconciliations, receiving/inventory discrepancies, RFQs, supplier performance, and receiving discrepancies
- Execute and expedite the procurement of goods and services, develop cost savings plans, and administer the progress payment process
- Understand and maintain the ERP system to provide accurate information to all departments
- Perform other duties as assigned
