Senior Buyer

Responsibilities

• Primary responsible for strategic and tactical sourcing, as well as managing the various commodities (e.g. metal castings/forgings, machined components, and metal fabrication commodities, etc.)
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships consistent with Company policy and conduct annual supplier negotiations with all key suppliers
• Ensure purchased materials are supplied in a proper time and meet the delivery dates to minimize the risk of an inventory stock-out or revenue impact
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure proper feedback and corrective actions are in place to improve quality and delivery
• Manage multiple suppliers & commodities to ensure ongoing supply and appropriate pricing are met
• Lead and coordinate procurement assignments for new product development and engineering changes
• Manage capabilities of existing and future supply base to ensure they meet the needs of our business
• Drive and execute supplier savings projects (external and internal)
• Support implementation of Global Commodity strategies
• Perform other duties as assigned.

  Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good supplier and vendor relationships
  • Expertise in problem-solving working with internal and external teams
  • Able to lead/co-lead projects in cross functional teams to drive strategic sourcing in a global environment
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel with excellent communications skills
  • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal skills - verbal and written communication, self-starter, positive make-it-happen attitude, team player

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related technical area or equivalent work experience
    • Strong background in procurement and supply chain strategies that are consistent with Nikkiso ACD centrifugal and reciprocating pump products, and how they are manufactured for the cryogenic industry
    • Supply chain professional with 7+ years of experience in supply chain, production, and machine shop
    • Extensive knowledge of supplier development strategies (globally and domestic is preferred)
    • Extensive knowledge of material flow best practices in a production environment with high mix and low volume
    • Strong knowledge working with machining castings, forgings, and welding
    • Strong knowledge in Machining and Fabrication – Bronze alloy, aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel
    • Background in Operations/Supply Chain/Lean preferred
    • Experience implementing ERP systems preferred
    • Hands-on experience with Problem Solving / Lean Manufacturing preferred
    • Project Planning / Project Management preferred

      $75K-$110K/YR
