Senior Buyer

The Senior Buyer at Laborie is responsible for purchasing activities across the supply chain network. This role involves supporting multiple projects, leading supply chain improvement initiatives, and ensuring product availability and inventory balance.

Purchasing

• Place and expedite purchase orders and internal stock transfer orders as needed.
• Maintain supplier relationships, choose the right suppliers, build trust, and communicate regularly with them.
• Add suppliers to the Approved Supplier List (ASL), place purchase requisitions, and expedite orders, if needed.
• Analyze and monitor inventory levels to comply with site goals, avoiding surplus material and stockouts.
• Demonstrate initiative in identifying improvement opportunities that impact operations, procedures, or financial areas.
• Support the R&D and engineering groups with new projects, including site expansions, NPD, line improvements, etc.
• Manage projects such as new product rollouts, exchanges, and lifecycle changes with cross-functional teams to ensure no service impacts.
• Provide root cause analysis and propose solutions based on analytics and data collection findings.
• Support invoice issues with Accounting and troubleshoot AP issues with the MRP system to ensure suppliers are paid in a timely manner.

About the Role

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics, or Operations, with a preference for a master’s or postgraduate degree. A minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or related business experience is required, along with inventory management experience. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and follow up to achieve positive results, and must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. SAP, MRP, ERP systems experience is required, with Visual MRP experience being preferred. APICS certification is preferred, and previous purchasing or materials management experience is highly beneficial.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics, or Operations).
• A minimum of 5 years Supply Chain, Operations, and/or other business experience.
• Inventory management experience.
• The ability to identify problems/issues, recommend appropriate solutions, and follow-up to ensure positive results.
• Proven analytical/quantitative skills.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• SAP, MRP, ERP systems experience.
• Visual MRP experience preferred.
• APICS certification preferred.
• Previous experience with demand and inventory highly preferred.
