Senior Buyer
The Senior Buyer at Laborie is responsible for purchasing activities across the supply chain network. This role requires a strong background in supply chain, operations, and business experience, with a focus on inventory management and project coordination.
Purchasing
- Place and expedite purchase orders and internal stock transfer orders as needed.
- Maintain supplier relationships, choose the right suppliers, build trust, and communicate regularly with them.
- Add suppliers to the Approved Supplier List (ASL), place purchase requisitions, and expedite orders, if needed.
- Analyze and monitor inventory levels to comply with site goals, avoiding surplus material and stockouts.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying improvement opportunities that impact operations, procedures, or financial areas.
- Support the R&D and engineering groups with new projects, including site expansions, NPD, line improvements, etc.
- Manage projects such as new product rollouts, exchanges, and lifecycle changes with cross-functional teams to ensure no impact on service.
- Provide root cause analysis and propose solutions based on analytics and data collection findings.
- Support the Accounts Payable team with invoice issues and help troubleshoot AP issues with the MRP system to ensure suppliers are paid in a timely manner.
About the Role
This role involves working closely with plant-level production teams to ensure product availability and manage delivery schedules. It is critical to maintaining product availability and inventory balance across global sites.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics, or Operations).
- A minimum of 5 years Supply Chain, Operations, and/or other business experience is required.
- Inventory management experience required.
- The demonstrated ability to identify problems/issues, recommend appropriate solutions, and follow-up to ensure positive results is required.
- Proven analytical/quantitative skills are required and must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- SAP, MRP, ERP systems experience is required.
- Visual MRP experience is preferred.
- APICS certification is preferred.
- Experience in purchasing or materials management is required.
- Previous experience with demand and inventory is highly preferred.
