Senior Buyer

About the role

A leading manufacturer serving the aerospace, defense, industrial, and medical sectors is seeking a Senior Buyer to join its supply chain team. This position will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, ensuring material availability, driving cost reduction initiatives, and supporting manufacturing operations through effective procurement execution.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials and components to support production requirements
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers
• Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, and cost metrics
• Resolve supplier issues and implement corrective actions
• Conduct supplier reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Review MRP requirements and manage purchase orders accordingly
• Identify alternate suppliers and mitigate supply chain risks
• Support cost savings and sourcing initiatives
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within ERP systems
• Partner closely with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or sourcing experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
• Experience using MRP/ERP systems
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace, defense, electronics, industrial, or medical manufacturing experience
• Purchasing electronic or electrical components
• Bachelor's degree
• APICS or ISM certification
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
