Responsibilities
- Source and procure fiber optic components, cable assemblies, and related materials to support production requirements
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements to maximize margin and ensure supply continuity
- Review bills of materials (BOMs) for cost optimization, component availability, and part accuracy
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor supplier performance, and resolve delivery or quality issues
- Support demand planning, inventory management, and production scheduling activities
- Analyze component shortages, market conditions, and supply risks while developing mitigation plans
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, sales, and planning teams to support customer delivery commitments
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement, planning, and inventory optimization
- Maintain accurate purchasing, forecasting, and reporting data within ERP/MRP systems
Qualifications
- Strong experience in purchasing, procurement, or commodity buying within the fiber optics, optical connectivity, networking hardware, or related electronics manufacturing industry
- Direct experience sourcing fiber optic components is strongly preferred and considered essential for success in this role
- Knowledge of BOM structures, inventory control, supply planning, and supplier management
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in fast-paced manufacturing or production environments
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with vendors/customers when English is their second language
