About the Role
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking a Senior Business Support Analyst to support the Substation Engineering teams. This role involves technical support, business analysis, project management, and leadership reporting to enhance departmental operations and initiatives. Specific work arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, maintain, develop, and support business needs and requirements for Substation Engineering teams, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancements for processes, reports, technologies, and database systems.
- Review and assess invoices for contracted engineering work.
- Coordinate project management activities, including timelines, status tracking, and stakeholder updates.
- Gather and present data for leadership reporting and develop standardized processes.
- Support Technical Communications efforts, including updating department websites, managing online forms, and maintaining project lists.
- Uphold safety compliance standards and ensure duties align with regulatory obligations.
- Use advanced analytics and statistical methods to identify trends, root causes, metrics, and performance indicators.
- Develop metrics and ongoing analysis for team support and improvement.
- Assess current practices and develop new modeling approaches, tools, and process improvement techniques.
- Lead and support cross-functional projects to enhance system solutions for business processes.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage multiple assignments with timely completion and high-quality results.
- Lead project teams and document business cases.
- Apply process improvement methodologies to business processes and procedures.
- Maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and train stakeholders on applications.
- Coordinate system implementations and testing as required.
- Support emergency response work, including restoration efforts.
Leadership Support
- Update and maintain the Substation Engineering internal website.
- Create and maintain Metrics, KPIs, and dashboards (Power BI/Fabric).
- Organize team resources, such as Teams sites, SharePoint sites, or physical storage areas.
- Serve as backup/co-owner for department inboxes.
- Maintain and administer project tracking tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, Power BI, Excel) to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integration.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for project visibility and decision-making.
Engineering Teams Support
- Provide project tracking assistance.
- Maintain and administer project tracking tools to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
- Ensure data consistency between scheduling tools (P6, MS Project), SAP, and Power BI reporting.
- Serve as the primary administrator for project engineering tracking systems, including data validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with engineering and project management teams to ensure tracking tools reflect project status, timelines, and key milestones.
- Identify and implement process improvements as needed.
- Analyze project engineering data to identify trends, risks, or bottlenecks and present findings to leadership.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in business, economics, finance, or related field, and 5 years of quantitative/qualitative analysis experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- Experience working with relational database systems (querying, analysis, reporting).
- Solid written, interpersonal, and group communication skills.
- Experience using business applications and analysis tools such as Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, statistical software, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP modules, and Cognos.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and project management abilities.
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts.
- Strong writing, communication, and customer service skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Experience providing guidance and direction to junior staff.
- Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience leading projects or teams.
- 7 years of utility-related experience.
- Advanced relational database experience (MS Access, SQL, Oracle).
- Experience performing advanced statistical analyses (predictive analytics, regression forecasting, data visualization, survival analytics).
- Experience in Adobe Acrobat Pro or Bluebeam.
- Experience in CAD systems, such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Programming language experience (Visual Basic, SQL, VB.NET, HTML).
- Knowledge of the rate-making process.
- Familiarity with SAP, BI, PACE.
- Process documentation and improvement experience.
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).

Pay
The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00, with eligibility for annual goal-based incentive bonuses.
