Senior Business Intelligence Developer - Tableau
Magellan is looking for a talented Tableau Developer to help build and manage a suite of Tableau Dashboards for our Public Sector clients.
About the role
This role is responsible for analyzing business requirements and creating the technical specifications for Business Intelligence (BI) systems to integrate with databases, data warehouses/marts, and Intelligence Data Management (IDM). The primary focus is blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, rolling out, and maintaining BI solutions for business owners. You will work with multiple types of healthcare customer data, designing and creating engaging, high-impact dashboards and visualizations, and analyzing data, processes, and systems to identify opportunities for process and performance improvement.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Business Intelligence (BI) architects to gather and document required BI system requirements.
- Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to develop data objects and/or framework ensuring business-smart resource allocation.
- Extract, transform, and load data into BI applications (requires data modeling across multiple data sources).
- Develop, test, and debug BI applications and ad-hoc reports.
- Develop front-end reporting applications using Tableau and Cognos.
- Utilize scripting languages to meet complex business requirements.
- Provide support to ensure the data availability and performance of enterprise data and BI environments for both external and internal users.
- Resolve data and reporting issues from business partners.
- Assist architects with client presentations and demonstrations.
- Collaborate with other developers on the application of standards and best practices, contributing to their evolution to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Mentor junior staff on the use and value of standards.
- Be involved in all aspects of the development life cycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, development, testing, training, implementation, and support of reporting applications.
- Use creativity and curiosity to partner with associates in other business areas to define business needs and help translate those needs into reporting system requirements.
- Interface with other teams and departments to develop new and modify existing reporting applications.
- Provide data and programming expertise to meet internal ad-hoc data requirements.
- Design and build Tableau visualizations, worksheets, and dashboards, including Calculated Fields, Filters, Dashboard Parameters, and other Tableau functionality.
- Write and edit SQL queries for data research and testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in Business Intelligence (BI) analysis and development.
- Experience developing BI solutions in QlikView/Sense or similar technologies.
- Experience working in Data Warehouse environments reporting on dimensions/hierarchies with experience in Star Schema/Snowflake modeling, Fact, and Dimensions tables.
- Solid experience developing complex Qlik data models.
- Strong knowledge of set analysis, set expressions, and creating data load scripts in the data load editor to develop in Qlik Sense.
- Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, VB, and JSON.
- Experience in developing extensions in Qlik Sense, including JavaScript and D3.
- Experience tuning data loads and QlikView/Sense applications for efficient performance.
- Work experience on mashups and deploying Qlik applications on custom portals.
- Experience with Qlik's in-memory data discovery architecture and adherence to Qlik's best practices and standards.
- Experience utilizing QlikView Publisher capabilities.
- Extensive use of SQL RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.), Data warehouse, and Hadoop/Big data systems.
- Performance tuning experience required.
- Extensive use of ETL tools like SSIS/Informatica/Snaplogic.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform and contribute in a strong team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Pay
Salary Minimum: $83,890
Salary Maximum: $142,610
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
