Senior Business Intelligence Analyst – AI & Automation
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and intellectually curious Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to modernize how we extract, automate, and present data. This role sits at the intersection of AI automation and data storytelling. You will translate complex data models into trusted, easily digestible insights using Snowflake and BigQuery. This is not a backend data engineering or data science role—we need an analyst who is a wizard with SQL and BI tools, knows how to connect AI APIs (like Claude or Gemini) to automate routine analysis, and can package insights into clear, business-ready slides.
You will act as your own stakeholder, bringing a proactive, consulting mindset to architect robust data pipelines, automate manual reporting with generative AI, and deliver a "single version of truth" to leadership without waiting for a script.
Responsibilities
- Lead data-driven alignment meetings across business dependencies, explaining complex data narratives clearly to non-technical teams.
- Connect cloud data platforms (Snowflake/BigQuery) with advanced language models (Claude, Gemini, OpenAI) using APIs to automate data discovery, anomaly detection, and performance summaries.
- Develop and optimize intuitive Looker Explores and dashboards using LookML to provide a single, accurate version of truth for commerce metrics.
- Build specific, actionable reports for Editorial, Sales, and Finance, dynamically slicing data to uncover root causes and category-level trends.
- Implement validation, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks to ensure accuracy and consistency across financial and commerce datasets.
- Run data alignment meetings and proactively drive business conversations with stakeholders.
- Partner with Editorial and SEO teams to optimize content monetization and with Product to enhance user conversion funnels.
- Champion practical AI use by training and mentoring the analytics team on generative AI tools, prompt engineering, and database connectors.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a consultative data role.
- Expertise in SQL and Looker, with advanced skills in Excel (modeling, pivots, complex formulas) and executive-level pitch decks (Google Slides/PowerPoint).
- Practical experience using AI to automate workflows, including setting up connectors, writing advanced prompts, and leveraging LLMs alongside SQL databases.
- Intermediate SQL skills with daily experience querying enterprise cloud platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or GCP).
- Deep experience with modern BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) to design scalable, user-friendly dashboards. Looker/LookML experience is a strong advantage.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to translate complex data into clear, non-technical business terms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong grasp of e-commerce and site performance metrics (CVR, CTR, RPV, traffic sourcing).
- Familiarity with performance tracking and affiliate marketing networks (Impact, Partnerize, Rakuten, CJ, Amazon Associates).
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
Special Working Conditions
- Required to work during major shopping holidays (e.g., Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Prime Day) to monitor live data, provide insights, and ensure system integrity.
- Shift timings align with EST hours.
