Senior Business Analyst, Technology | Commercial Lending
This position follows a hybrid-friendly schedule with 3 in-office days per week at our St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office. This role is not eligible for Work Visa sponsorship, either currently or in the future.
About the Role
As part of our Raymond James Bank Technology Team, the Senior IT Business Analyst will act as a partner with the Bank Commercial Lending business group and IT Partners to facilitate and implement technology solutions. This position documents requirements and supports all business initiatives for the Commercial Loan Origination system. The role requires a high-level understanding of systems, industry, and end-user requirements, serving as a primary liaison between business and application developers on complex systems.
Responsibilities
- Creates detailed business requirements for functional (e.g., business processes, rules) and non-functional (e.g., data, security) capabilities.
- Validates test cases to ensure that scripts will evaluate the business function being performed.
- Gathers and interprets information from multiple sources (including databases, interviews, etc.) and makes recommendations.
- Supports the business by handling configuration and workflow management for financial and document management systems.
- Provides support for application development teams, including documenting business processes.
- Translates technical concepts to a business audience and business information to a technical audience.
- Participates in developing estimates and implementation plans for technical solutions.
- Partners with team members to develop project schedules, reports, and documentation. May act as project lead on small to medium projects and/or provide direction to others on the team.
- Collaborates with vendors to hand over business use cases, design technical solutions, and assess implementation options.
- Works with User Experience/Design resources to help visualize requirements into prototypes.
- Understands and applies principles in risk management, issue tracking, and change management.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- More than five (5) years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst is preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of commercial lending, commercial loan origination, or mortgage underwriting experience is preferred.
- Financial Services experience is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level, complex applications is preferred.
- Experience gathering business requirements from the ground up is required.
- Experience working with various stakeholders in IT and Business Operations at a senior level is required.
- Experience with vendor-based application software implementation and support is a plus.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Loan Origination or Loan Underwriting is required.
- Knowledge of the commercial lending domain and origination/servicing of syndicated and bilateral deals is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of issue tracking, change management, and requirements gathering.
- Solid understanding of SDLC and working through various phases with peers and IT partners.
- Knowledge of Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid software development methodologies.
- Ability to query a database using SQL is preferred.
- Ability to assume ownership and responsibility, acting as a key liaison between application development and business operations.
- Ability to understand in-depth details of business process rules, document, and communicate them effectively to technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through various media to engage the audience.
- Strong knowledge in position-related areas; stays current with developments and trends.
- Ability to work in a team environment or project room to facilitate collaboration.
- Ability to provide system support, including after-hour incident handling when necessary (rotation within the support team).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer and Information Science, or a High School diploma (required).
