Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (Lending Analytics)

About the role
As part of the originations forecasting team within Lending Analytics, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will lead reporting, analytics, and insights for various portfolio originations including Cards, Consumer, Education Lending, and Business Solutions. The Senior BIA will help craft originations forecasts for major Lending portfolios using internal and external strategic considerations and present these to senior leaders. This position supports and quantifies the impact of business decisions by providing quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, insights, and trends to leadership via dashboards and reports. The role involves analyzing business problems and issues using business intelligence tools that incorporate data from internal and external sources, working under minimal supervision, and using a complete understanding of business needs and objectives to make recommendations that impact the achievement of operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Support Lending’s Annual Financial Planning (AFP) exercise by driving originations analytics and insights into members and products via internal and external data sources.
- Create dashboards and advanced reporting focusing on understanding the multitude of factors that influence originations, including competitive environment, member personas and behavior, propensity for application for one/various products, and engagement via channels over membership lifetime.
- Help create member and portfolio insights that could be used in forward-looking models to project originations.
- Collect, aggregate, and analyze data from multiple sources, including structured and unstructured data sets, to drive insights into business performance.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns and prepare ongoing reports and data visualizations to support business decisions.
- Develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, dashboards, and BI solutions.
- Produce actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement, and pinpoint early indications of deviation from expectations to surface for leaders.
- Use analytics and metrics to improve processes and provide data-driven forecasts of potential costs, risks, and profits of new business initiatives.
- Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders, including leaders, and provide business strategy recommendations for optimizing business performance.
- Provide reporting solutions and respond to ad-hoc report requests within the business area.
- Create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements.
- Build working relationships with team members and subject matter experts.
- Lead small projects and initiatives, including quarterly or annual AFP refreshes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in big data analysis and business intelligence reporting.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in utilizing work products to tell a story through appropriate balance of visualizations, design aesthetics, and words.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Lending products and processes in a financial services/banking context.
- Advanced skill using business intelligence applications and/or cloud services including Tableau/PowerBI and ADO/Databricks to develop dashboards for senior leaders and business partners.
- Advanced skill using statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Advanced skill in complex data manipulation across multiple tables.
- Effective data integration, cleaning, and validation skills.
- Strong skills communicating data analysis and visualizations to nontechnical and senior audiences.
- Skill with data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R.
- Research skills and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge of reporting capabilities of existing ERP, CRM, and/or database software vendors.
