Senior Business Analyst – Mainframe Modernization

About the Role

Perform advanced business analysis work related to implementing complex, emerging technology hardware and software projects for the Mainframe Transformation Program. Work under limited supervision with considerable initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Gather, develop, document, review, and assess requirements using multiple methods, including reverse engineering legacy systems.
• Develop and document business processes, design documentation, and user acceptance testing.
• Conduct research and provide special project support to users.
• Analyze and document work related to multiple inter-related projects, including SaaS or COTS implementations, mainframe data migration, and data warehouse development.
• Ensure deliverables and materials follow established processes and procedures, maintain consistent quality, and use accepted business analysis methodologies.
• Facilitate interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
• Assess production support issues, determine root cause, and document items needed for data or system correction.
• Develop and maintain understanding of key business drivers and impacts, and assist clients with identifying and solving business issues.
• Develop and write design documents and diagram business processes.
• Facilitate analysis of business and functional requirements and design technology specifications with business and functional personnel.
• Define functional design and system specifications, and prepare, review, and deliver completed packages.
• Support user acceptance testing, training, and implementation-related activities with business and functional units.

Requirements

• 10+ years of business analysis experience on software development projects, including preparation of project documentation.
• 3+ years of experience with RBDMS (Risk Based Data Management System) Oil & Gas regulatory systems.
• 10+ years of strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, written/verbal/presentation communication skills in English, with technical writing experience and proficiency in MS Office and prototyping/screen mock-up tools such as Visio, SnagIt, Adobe Illustrator, or Axure.
• 10+ years of hands-on requirements elicitation, client management, and technical documentation experience, including traceability, use cases, prototyping, and data modeling.
• 10+ years of experience facilitating interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
• 10+ years of strong analysis experience assessing production support issues, determining root cause, and documenting items needed for data or system correction.
• 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining understanding of key business drivers and impacts, and assisting clients with identifying and solving business issues.
• 10+ years of experience developing and writing design documents and diagramming business processes.
• 10+ years of experience facilitating analysis of business and functional requirements and designing technology specifications with business and functional personnel.
• 10+ years of experience defining functional design and system specifications, and preparing, reviewing, and delivering completed packages.
• 10+ years of experience supporting user acceptance testing, training, and implementation-related activities with business and functional units.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mainframe environments, COBOL, SQL, Azure DevOps, Visio, Data Warehouse/Data Lake, SSIS, ETL, and Snowflake.
• Experience with process improvement strategies and methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead change and design more efficient processes.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, as well as general compliance and enforcement-related projects, as a Business Analyst.
• Proven ability to work effectively within multifaceted teams, resolve conflict, and handle challenging situations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• CCBA, CBAP, or similar certification.

Pay

$85.00/hour (W2 contract)

Schedule

1-year contract with opportunity for extension. Remote work location.
