About the role

Business Enterprise Solutions (BES) is a part of the Corporate Technology & Innovation department, delivering enterprise business solutions to support company objectives. The Senior Business Analyst, Finance & Accounting serves as the primary liaison between Finance & Accounting, Operations, and Technology & Innovation to support, optimize, and continuously improve Accounting, Job Costing, and Operational workflows. This role aligns closely with Southland’s ongoing enterprise ERP innovation and automation initiatives, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic transformation while maturing the company’s capabilities.

The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis skills with experience in procurement, sourcing, vendor management, inventory, accounts payable, job costing, ERP systems, and construction operations. They act as a trusted business partner who translates business challenges into practical technology solutions while driving process improvement, operational efficiency, reporting maturity, and data-driven decision-making. This position reports to the Director of Finance & Accounting Technologies.

Business Partnership & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the technology partner to Finance, Accounting, and Construction Operations stakeholders and users
  • Develop a deep understanding of business processes, operational challenges, and strategic objectives
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and users and serve as a trusted advisor on technology-related opportunities and solutions
  • Facilitate requirements-gathering workshops and business process discussions
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements

Finance & Accounting Technology Support

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Finance and Accounting technology solutions, including ERP platforms and other supporting applications
  • Provide Tier 3 application support and resolve complex business and system issues
  • Investigate and troubleshoot application issues, working with business users, support teams, vendors, and technical resources to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Manage vendor escalations and coordinate testing and deployment of software updates, patches, and fixes
  • Maintain application documentation, business processes, and support procedures

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Analyze current-state business processes and perform process mapping, value stream mapping, and gap analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, financial controls, reporting, and user experience
  • Develop business cases and solution recommendations that align technology investments with business objectives
  • Support organizational readiness and change management activities associated with new solutions and enhancements
  • Measure and track business outcomes resulting from implemented improvements

Project Delivery & Solution Implementation

  • Lead small-to-medium technology initiatives from requirements gathering through deployment and stabilization
  • Participate in larger enterprise projects as the Finance & Accounting technology representative
  • Create functional requirements, process flows, test plans, user acceptance testing scenarios, and implementation documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline; relevant construction industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience supporting Finance, Accounting, ERP, or enterprise business applications, with strong experience in the construction industry
  • Experience with COINS ERP or similar construction ERP solutions is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting processes, including job cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, project financial management, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and project controls
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business applications, managing system enhancements, troubleshooting complex issues, and partnering with software vendors to resolve application challenges
  • Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping, value stream mapping, gap analysis, solution design, testing, and change management
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to translate business challenges into practical technology solutions
  • Strong verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Hybrid role available to candidates located near active Central/East Southland locations, including Austin, Houston, Carrollton, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Dulles, Laurel, Philadelphia, and Whitehall
