About the role

The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) is a hands-on problem-solving role within the Global Supply Chain Data Analytics & Data Science team at CooperSurgical. The Sr. BA is a practical supply chain analytics owner who can solve immediate business problems using Excel, quick queries, and lightweight reporting solutions, while moving recurring needs toward scalable Power BI and SQL-based solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Own ambiguous business problems and independently drive them to resolution using data, process knowledge, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Build pragmatic, usable solutions quickly, with clear assumptions and a path toward scalable improvement.
  • Challenge over-engineered solutions; prioritize simplicity, usability, and business impact.
  • Translate Supply Chain process gaps into data models, KPIs, and decision tools.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring solutions are both usable and sustainable.
  • Collaborate primarily with Global Supply Chain stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into actionable analytics and reporting plans.
  • Build and improve dashboards and KPI frameworks supporting operational efficiency, inventory visibility, demand planning, and service levels.
  • Lead reporting initiatives through the full lifecycle, including intake, discovery, requirements, build, QA/UAT, release, training, adoption, and iterative enhancement.
  • Implement improvements that reduce manual effort, improve automation/reliability, and increase stakeholder self-service capability.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering/IT to improve source system integration, dataset design, refresh reliability, and data quality controls; validate end-to-end lineage from source to dashboard.
  • Establish and maintain an intake and prioritization process for enhancements and ad hoc requests; define repeatable solutions for frequent asks.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment by setting expectations for scope, timelines, dependencies, and release cadence; communicate status and risks proactively.
  • Applies a “right tool for the problem” mindset, leveraging Excel, SQL, or Power BI depending on speed, complexity, and long-term needs.
  • Rapidly builds interim/manual solutions (Excel models, Power Query transformations, quick extracts, reconciliations, and SQL queries) to solve urgent business problems while designing future-state automation.
  • Identifies and resolves root cause process issues, not just data discrepancies.
  • Simplifies complex problems into clear, actionable outputs for business stakeholders.
  • Drives transition from manual → semi-automated → fully automated solutions.
  • Independently develops, enhances, and maintains BI solutions and reporting using Power BI (including DAX), SAP BusinessObjects (preferred), and Excel/VBA.
  • Designs and maintains Power BI semantic models and datasets, improving usability, performance, and refresh reliability.
  • Conducts data validation, reconciliation, and QA to ensure accuracy and trust in reporting outputs.
  • Validates reporting results by reconciling KPIs and metrics against ERPs and other source systems; investigates variances and documents findings.
  • Performs analysis to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities; translates insights into recommendations and measurable actions.
  • Leads requirements gathering workshops; documents functional specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Provides Tier 1–2 reporting support (break-fix), including incident triage, root cause analysis, and resolution documentation; implements fixes to prevent repeat issues.
  • Owes and manages multiple reporting initiatives simultaneously, including intake, prioritization, scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications; maintains a structured backlog of enhancements and new requests.
  • Collaborates with Data Engineering/IT to define data requirements, improve pipeline reliability, resolve data issues, and ensure governed datasets support reporting needs end-to-end.
  • Provides timely ad hoc analysis and reporting support; triages requests, documents logic/assumptions, and converts recurring requests into standardized reporting where appropriate.
  • Coaches and mentors Business Analysts through guidance on requirements, modeling, DAX optimization, visualization best practices, QA, and release processes; supports peer reviews and knowledge-sharing as needed.
  • Collaborates within the Global Supply Chain Analytics & Data Science team to standardize KPI definitions, improve data literacy, and increase adoption of self-service reporting.
  • Promotes a continuous improvement mindset; drives data-led initiatives with leaders and process owners.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills required, including complex formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, data validation, reconciliation, scenario analysis, and creation of maintainable operational tools.
  • VBA/macros are a plus.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in Power BI and DAX; strong capability in report design, modeling, and performance optimization.
  • SAP BusinessObjects experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience working with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or comparable systems is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with SQL is strongly preferred; familiarity with Python/VBA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to learn complex processes quickly and identify key data flows and improvement opportunities.
  • Experience using ERP systems to perform data validation, transaction-level reconciliation, and root-cause investigation between source systems and reporting outputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing competing priorities and communicating tradeoffs effectively.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including working with Data Engineering and IT to define datasets, troubleshoot data issues, and improve pipeline reliability.
  • Ability to provide mentorship and coaching to analysts; drive adoption of best practices, standards, and reusable reporting components.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to distill complex data into clear, concise insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and data quality; consistent track record of meeting commitments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English required.
