City of Newcastle (CN) has a 3-year fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of our business analysis framework, creating a consistent, high-quality approach to business analysis across the organisation.

In this influential role, you will leverage leading methodologies such as BABOK, Lean Six Sigma, Business Model Canvas, and other best-practice frameworks to strengthen capability, uplift standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. As a trusted advisor, you will provide guidance and mentoring to Business Analysts and IT team members while championing innovative, business-focused solutions.

Working closely with stakeholders, project managers, solution architects, and delivery teams, you will lead requirements gathering, facilitate workshops, map current and future state processes, and identify opportunities to improve systems, services, and ways of working. You will be key to ensuring business needs are clearly understood, documented, and translated into practical outcomes that align with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of CN’s business analysis framework.
• Apply leading methodologies (BABOK, Lean Six Sigma, Business Model Canvas) to uplift standards and drive improvement.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to Business Analysts and IT team members.
• Champion innovative, business-focused solutions.
• Lead requirements gathering, facilitate workshops, and map current/future state processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, services, and ways of working.
• Ensure business needs are clearly documented and aligned with strategic objectives.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strategic thinker with experience turning complexity into clarity.
• Passion for influencing change, building capability, and delivering impactful solutions.
• Experience with business analysis frameworks and methodologies (e.g., BABOK, Lean Six Sigma).
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

Pay

$138,049.95 per annum + 17.5% annual leave loading + 12% superannuation for a 35-hour week.
