Senior Builders Risk/Inland Marine Underwriter

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and eager individual with at least 5+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, preferably in Construction, Casualty, or Builder's Risk. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and possess exceptional interpersonal and sales skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and negotiate price, coverage, terms, and conditions for all new business and renewals
• Identify target accounts that fit Shepherd’s underwriting appetite
• Leverage technology and data to make quick, informed underwriting decisions tailored to clients' specific needs
• Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to negotiate effectively
• Contribute to a client-centric, efficient underwriting process

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Strong background in risk analysis and experience with construction and/or casualty underwriting
• Knowledge and proficiency with compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies
• Ability to adapt and be creative in a fast-paced startup environment
