Senior Bridge Inspector (Culpeper District)
About the role
ATCS's Construction Services group is expanding in Virginia and seeking Senior Bridge Inspectors to join our team in the Culpeper area. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience inspecting bridges and similar structures, using engineering skills to determine structural soundness and compliance with NBIS and other local, state, and federal regulations. This work covers Culpeper, VA, and surrounding areas extending down to Charlottesville.
Responsibilities
- Support preparation of bridge inspections by collecting bridge reports and data, gathering equipment, coordinating inspection routes, and related tasks.
- Perform inspection work on bridges and foundations to assess structural integrity, general safety, and continued compliance with specifications and codes (e.g., National Bridge Inspection Standards and FHWA bridge inspection metrics).
- Compile necessary reports for Inspection Team Leaders to review.
- Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine compliance with rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
- Receive additional direction from Team Leaders, Project Managers, or other senior-level technical staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is desired but not required.
- Previous bridge construction inspection training or certifications desired.
- Willingness to travel within Virginia.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Pay
Competitive salary range of $19.23 to $50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is eligible for an annual bonus, with a target of 2% of the employee's annualized salary.
