Senior Bridge Engineer
About the role
As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will serve in a lead technical role on design projects within our Transportation Market. You will carry out and lead complex structural planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects, primarily bridges. You will have the opportunity to provide day-to-day leadership and technical expertise on some of the most high-profile and impactful transportation infrastructure projects in the country.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing and ensuring that project quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met while building trusted relationships with teaming partners and clients. As a leader within our project delivery team, you will serve as a key point of contact between our clients and our global team of bridge engineers, enabling Jacobs to provide clients with the most appropriate and necessary level of knowledge and experience to meet their needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex structural planning, analysis, and design for transportation projects, primarily bridges
- Oversee project quality, schedule, and budget requirements
- Serve as a key point of contact between clients and the global team of bridge engineers
- Establish work plans and multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of a project
- Direct and coordinate activities of Project Engineers, Engineers, and Technicians
- Ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters
- Mentor engineering staff
- Participate in technical societies and attend meetings or events outside normal working hours
- Perform bridge inspections, report writing, and specification development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Ohio or ability to obtain Ohio license within 6 months of employment
- Substantial years of progressive and demonstrated experience on a variety of bridge types (e.g., steel, prestressed concrete, curved, skewed, and long-span), including analysis, design, and plan development of new and rehabilitation projects
- Considerable experience on large, multidisciplinary bridge design projects
- Previous experience with Design-Build (DB) projects
- Experience in a teamwork environment and leading a team of engineers
Skills
- Advanced working knowledge of MicroStation, Excel, MathCad, and structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, CSi-Bridge, LPILE, MDX, Leap Bridge, LARSA)
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Software
- Strong technical expertise in engineering analysis and design
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred)

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $160,000.00 to $175,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
