Ainley Group is seeking a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to lead our bridge design team in Belleville, Kingston, or Ottawa. This management-focused role provides the opportunity to oversee the planning, design, and administration of bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects while mentoring staff and maintaining client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead and complete the structural design of new bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and structural repairs in accordance with CSA-S6-CHBDC.
- Manage project teams, including intermediate and junior engineers and technologists, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance guidance.
- Coordinate and liaise with clients, approving authorities, and external design teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Oversee preparation of engineering drawings.
- Prepare tender packages with specifications and engineering cost estimates.
- Complete construction administration for bridge, culvert, and retaining wall replacement and rehabilitation projects.
- Maintain existing client relationships and support business development, including preparing technical proposals and fee estimates to secure future structural projects.
- Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and risk management objectives.
Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of transportation structures.
- Experience in a management or supervisory capacity would be an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA-S6), and MTO Structural Manual.
- Experience leading and working with multi-disciplinary design teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and MS Project.
- Potential for MTO RAQS registration in the design and evaluation of complex structures (multi-span) is an asset.
- Independent, organized, and proactive, with excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to develop trusted relationships with clients and internal teams.

Pay
$120,000 – $160,000 per year
