Forge ahead with WSB. We are seeking a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to join our growing Structures team. Open to remote candidates residing in Florida with experience working on FDOT projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural calculations, modeling, analysis, and design
  • Prepare contract documents including plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Manage and lead multi-disciplinary projects from proposal stage, through design, and design services during construction
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
  • Develop, prepare and review reports and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions
  • Conduct engineering research and provide technical assistance to consulting engineers, contractors, public officials, municipalities, and others as needed
  • Deliver professional presentations
  • Participate in meetings with clients and project team members
  • Conduct quality review of structural calculations and contract documents
  • Stay up-to-date with the state of practice, and integrate innovation and technology in design

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 3+ years of experience working on FDOT Bridge projects (state or local agency)
  • Professional Engineer’s license in Florida with 6+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in structural analysis programs such as Midas Civil and familiarity with industry software such as Bentley OpenBridge, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, and MDX
  • Proficiency in structural detailing in MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Enthusiastic, can-do attitude, and strong teamwork ethic
  • Good organization skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team and exercise independent initiative
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week

Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment. Occasional travel or field visits may be required to support projects.
