Senior Bookkeeper/ Accountant
We are seeking a Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant for our Business Process Outsourcing Department in our Birmingham, AL office. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to work within deadlines, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure a high level of professional standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation to clients, their parent companies, and related entities on accounting, business administration, and taxation needs
- Take ownership of assigned client engagements, anticipating issues and developing plans to complete engagements within budget
- Prepare financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Prepare various sales and use tax returns, personal property tax returns, and other required forms
- Process payroll
- Assure timely completion and communication of project status internally
- Research technical issues and discuss with Manager/Partner for further guidance
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Accounting or higher, or German Steuerfachangestellte(r) certification
- 3-4+ years of relevant accounting experience, including preparing financial statements and client communication
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and independently within an established administrative framework
- High-level client-service orientation with ability to handle sensitive, confidential information discreetly
- Ability to understand challenges facing partners and staff, and manage/reschedule priorities effectively
- Superior organizational skills with ability to develop and follow through on processes
Qualifications
- Experience using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online accounting software
- Experience with Microsoft D365 and SAP accounting software is a plus
- Strong knowledge of US-GAAP and HGB is a plus
- Basic knowledge of US tax system
- Team player mentality with willingness to contribute to team success
- German language skills are a plus but not required
