Senior Biostatistician
About the role
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Our medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH.
Responsibilities
- Develop and apply statistical and machine-learning models to high-dimensional data to support biomarker strategy and clinical evidence generation.
- Work with multi-omic profiling, PK/PD biomarkers, and biobank- or EHR-linked genomic data.
- Ability to apply human genetics methods (e.g., GWAS, polygenic risk scores, sequencing) to inform translational strategy is a plus.
- Generate real-world evidence from observational data and apply causal-inference methods to draw robust conclusions from non-randomized studies.
- Support the design and analysis of clinical trials and real-world data (claims, EHR, registries); contribute to protocols and Statistical Analysis Plans.
- Partner across translational science, early clinical research, Real-World Evidence generation, and contribute to publications and conferences.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in (Bio)statistics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent internship, co-op, or postdoctoral research).
- Ideal candidates will have between 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in R and SAS, with working knowledge of Python and machine-learning libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Building data pipelines that transform high-dimensional and real-world datasets into analysis-ready form.
- Able to communicate complex analyses to non-statisticians and influence decisions across scientific and clinical teams.
- Experience with real-world data sources and knowledge of regulatory guidelines a plus.
- Familiarity with multi-omic and PK/PD biomarker data and with biobank- or EHR-linked genomic datasets a plus.
