About the role
This role is a mix of technical leadership and hands-on development, combining Databricks expertise with strong data modeling skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and build semantic layers and data models in Databricks
- Develop scalable data models using Kimball methodology
- Work hands-on with SQL and Python for transformations
- Lead BI projects and guide small engineering teams
- Ensure data quality, governance, and performance
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Analytics teams
Requirements
- 8-10+ years in BI Engineering / Data Engineering / Analytics Engineering
- Databricks (Lakehouse, Delta, Unity Catalog)
- Data modeling: Kimball, Star Schema, Fact & Dimension tables
- Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
- Strong SQL and Python
- CI/CD pipelines (any tools)
- Experience building semantic layers / business-ready datasets
- Hands-on + team leadership / mentoring experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Skills
- Strong senior BI/Data Engineer with hands-on Databricks experience
- Expert in data modeling (Kimball/star schema)
- Capable of leading BI initiatives while still coding
