As a Senior Benefits Consultant, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our dedicated team by ensuring they have access to comprehensive, strategic benefits programs that support both domestic and international employees. Your work will directly contribute to the overall well-being of our staff across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, through meticulous benefits management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research, analysis, and administration of healthcare, wellness, retiree, retirement, and leave programs.
- Provide expertise in benefit processes, administration, advocacy, education, and training for healthcare, wellness, defined benefits, defined contributions, and retirement programs.
- Collaborate with benefit brokers, vendors, and insurance providers on plan summaries, invoicing, renewals, claims, disputes, and inquiries.
- Act as primary liaison between employees and insurance providers to efficiently resolve issues.
- Resolve complex employee benefit questions and disputes promptly and professionally.
- Stay current with federal, state, local, and international HR and benefits laws (including US, Puerto Rico, and Canada).
- Lead benefit compliance efforts (COBRA, 5500, Discrimination Testing, FAS106, 1095, Medicare disclosures, ERISA, etc.).
- Calculate intricate benefit paycheck deductions as necessary.
- Strategically plan, administer new hire benefit enrollment, orientation, open enrollment, and terminations.
- Attend and actively participate in benefit and HR training sessions and meetings.
- Manage communication across multiple platforms (emails, Teams, Freshdesk, Ring Central, Workday, etc.).
- Provide support for high-impact projects to the Benefits Manager.
- Manage communication and process improvements with external HRIS System Consultants.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- 3+ years of proven benefits administration experience (required).
- SHRM Certification (preferred).
- GBA, CEBS Certification (preferred).
- Mastery in benefit enrollment, advocacy, and administration of self-funded plans.
- Advanced research skills for compliance laws in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
- Advanced analytical skills and exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of employee benefits and employment law.
- Computer proficiency, especially Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Proficiency in Workday HRIS (preferred).
