Senior Banquet Manager - The Langham, New York
Responsibilities
- To finalize food, beverage and meeting room set-up requirements.
- To ensure the proper and accurate setup of all event space on all scheduled shifts.
- To finalize and post event checks.
- To ensure checks balance in Micros, Delphi and Shiiji.
- When appropriate, to upsell menus to achieve food and beverage cost.
- To have a full understanding of the Hotel’s Catering standard operating procedures and adhere to these guidelines.
- To be prompt and accurate in completion of assigned projects.
- To establish and maintain customer contact at all functions and the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- To properly communicate pertinent information across departments to ensure proper execution of events and food service.
- To recommend and identify new ideas, methods and markets.
- To promote energy conservation and appropriate company programs along with achieving accident prevention goals.
- To conduct opening and closing walkthroughs or setups and event space.
- To perform the daily operational assignments of line colleagues as needed.
- To report to duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.
- To provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group Standards.
- To meet Langham Hotel & Resorts/The Langham New York Survey/VOC service standards.
- To be fully versed in all LQA service standards, train, reinforce and ensure the proper execution of those standards.
- To maintain all Furniture, Fixture and Equipment on the floor.
- To ensure proper scheduling of staff per OnTrack Labor standards.
- To review and approve departmental payroll.
- To attend meetings including BEO, Morning Operational Meeting, Pre and Post Cons, Group Resume, Catering ROME and any others as directed.
- To oversee repairs and maintain the floors to The Langham New York Brand Standards; oversee third parties on the floor included but not limited to AV Company, Third Party Agency Staffing.
- To assist with monthly and quarterly inventory; and purchasing of liquor, equipment, food, linens and any other supplies needed for the floor.
- To ensure accurate reporting and requisitioning of beverage.
- To Assist Private Kitchen & Club teams as directed by supervisor.
- To perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage banquet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages.
Ability to walk, stand and or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.
Ability to communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and associates.
Ability to use patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information to resolve problems.
Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations during busy periods.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Micros POS preferred.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
High School diploma required.
College degree preferred.
