Senior Back End Developer

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Back End Developer to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space. This role will focus on building scalable backend services that support AI-powered products and knowledge-driven workflows. You will help shape the architecture behind retrieval systems, APIs, and data pipelines that connect information across the organization. Working closely with Product, Design, AI, and Engineering partners, you will influence how technical knowledge is organized, surfaced, and turned into actionable insights.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services that power the company's AI-enabled platform
• Develop scalable retrieval systems connecting engineering knowledge across multiple products
• Build APIs and services that enable AI-powered experiences
• Improve search quality, data pipelines, and knowledge retrieval performance
• Expand platform capabilities to support intelligence reporting and engineering insights
• Design systems to organize company knowledge across different business units
• Collaborate closely with AI, Product, Design, and Engineering teams
• Mentor teammates through architecture discussions and code reviews

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building production backend software
• Strong experience with Python and modern backend development
• Experience building APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications
• Strong understanding of databases, system architecture, and scalable backend design
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data
• Comfortable making architectural decisions in evolving product environments
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical teammates

Pay

$110,000 – $130,000 annually
