Senior AWS Cloud Engineer
We are seeking a senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our Air and FS2 Team, focusing on cloud architecture, integration, and deployment of AWS service offerings across security and technical enclaves. This role involves deploying and maintaining multiple operational cloud-deployed software solutions, providing architectural recommendations, and ensuring the security and operational status of government systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams to design and implement AWS system architectures, ensuring compliance with government security standards (ATO).
- Review and provide input on system requirements based on cyber security posture.
- Compile industry best practices and lessons learned into future architectural designs.
- Perform architectural analysis of cloud systems, configurations, and enterprise connections.
- Support the Engineering Review Board by evaluating artifacts for architectural compliance.
- Create systemic and repeatable systems architecture and implementation documentation for cross-team use.
- Apply systems engineering lifecycle experience to AWS cloud initiatives, focusing on architectural design and development.
- Resolve architecture implementation issues during integration and testing phases.
- Provide support for system outages and ticket resolution, either directly or through team management.
- Assist teams in deploying and configuring collection services and tools with 99.9% uptime.
- Work with team members to manage data storage, monitor dashboard metrics (costs, computational utilization), and address future business needs.
- Validate and manage government systems changes, including creating, running, and validating end-to-end testing.
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Poly CI.
- DoD 8570 Certification Compliance (IAT Level 2/3).
- BS degree and 10+ years of experience consulting, designing, and implementing distributed solutions, including 5+ years with cloud-based solutions (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services), virtualization, network, and operating system experience. Alternatively, 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Familiarity with system engineering documentation creation (VDDs, diagrams, etc.).
- Experience with team collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, RocketChat).
- Hands-on experience with AWS/Cloud technologies and integration.
- Proficiency in Grafana.
- Subject matter expertise across AWS cloud technologies, including EC2, PaaS (OpenShift), Lambdas, S3 buckets, Reserved Instances, etc.
- Understanding of code baseline management.
- Experience with the following tools: Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Python, GitLab, CloudFormation, Zabbix, HP Fortify, ACAS, PostgreSQL, Scrum, Kanban, Terraform.
- Knowledge of systems, architectural, software development, and software sustainment practices.

- Understanding of SFA organization, aeronautical data, and mission experience.
- Experience with NGA cloud-based and enterprise architecture.
- AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certifications.
- Experience with IC Cloud Architecture implementation methodologies.
- Proficiency with native cloud templating services like AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with aeronautical datasets.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and projects.
- Experience with the Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) process for evaluating solution options.
Pay
Pay Range: $131,300.00 - $237,350.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
