Senior AWS Cloud Data Migration Engineer NEW!

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud Data Migration Engineer to lead enterprise cloud migration initiatives involving Oracle databases and AWS infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), cloud networking, ETL/ELT processes, automation, and hybrid cloud environments. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud migration solutions with minimal business disruption.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement end-to-end cloud data migration solutions using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Migrate Oracle databases and applications to AWS cloud environments.
• Design and implement batch, real-time, CDC, and streaming data ingestion architectures.
• Configure and manage AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing tables, and networking components.
• Deploy and manage AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, and infrastructure using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes to support cloud migration and data integration.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Configure secure hybrid cloud connectivity using VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and security best practices.
• Monitor cloud environments using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and related monitoring tools.
• Develop migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and disaster recovery documentation.
• Produce technical architecture documents, migration runbooks, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize legacy systems and ensure successful cloud adoption.

Requirements

• 8+ years of IT experience supporting enterprise technology solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Experience migrating Oracle databases to AWS.
• Strong knowledge of batch processing, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming data architectures.
• Experience designing AWS cloud infrastructure and networking.
• Expertise with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and cloud data integration.
• Strong scripting skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with AWS networking, VPNs, Direct Connect, and security configuration.
• Experience using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Experience creating migration, cutover, rollback, and disaster recovery plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud and legacy modernization initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, or related AWS certifications.
• Experience working in State Government or Public Sector environments.
