Senior Automotive Technician / Mechanic

About the role

The Senior Automotive Technician ensures repairs are performed correctly and efficiently by qualified technicians while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. They diagnose and repair customer vehicles in accordance with dealership, manufacturers, and Vannoy's Tire & Service standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses vehicles according to certifications and experience level.
• Performs work as outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Performs complex and heavy-duty repairs.
• Explains technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals, including Store Manager, Service Consultants, and customers.
• Recommends necessary services to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; documents all recommendations in the customer file.
• Follows all safety procedures and reports concerns to the direct supervisor.
• Adheres to Sun Auto’s core values and all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Works flexible schedules, Monday through Saturday.

Requirements

• Previous automotive technician/mechanic experience required.
• ASE certifications in lieu of experience.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized equipment for diagnostics.
• Valid Driver’s license in the work state (out-of-state licenses must be transferred within 30 days of hire).
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical School experience preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Exposure to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous/non-hazardous materials.
• Work environment temperature varies and may include extreme heat or cold.
• Safety goggles or other PPE may be required.
• Must stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and walk to access various areas.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly; full range of motion with arms and hands required.
• Frequently handle or finger objects.
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Communicate with customers and shop personnel.
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus.

Pay

Up to $45 flag rate.
