About the role

The Senior Automation Product Specialist supports outside sales by driving sales of automation products and solutions. Responsibilities include understanding product features and benefits, providing technical support, and building customer relationships to identify needs and recommend suitable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed sales goals for assigned technology offerings
  • Lead and support sales efforts with key targets, customers, and opportunities in the assigned product area or region
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers via on-site visits, phone, and email, including troubleshooting, locating technical documentation, product selection, and other requested activities
  • Establish relationships with sales teams and customers to better understand sales potential
  • Collaborate with sales to develop joint strategies and activities
  • Provide expert knowledge to sales and branch teams to facilitate quoting, order entry, and order expediting
  • Create and present technical and commercial training for internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate products to customers
  • Acquire, use, and continuously develop personal technical knowledge
  • Provide oral and/or written quotations, proposals, or estimates covering prices, scope of work, terms, and delivery
  • Work with prospective customers to move projects through the sales cycle to conclusion
  • Prepare for sales calls and customer events
  • Work with purchasing on proper inventory of high-tech products and identify potential obsolescence issues
  • Mentor and coach junior team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Electrical distribution industry or related experience required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Skills

  • Intermediate/advanced computer skills, specifically with Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, courtesy, positive attitude, and professional communication etiquette
  • Ability to develop and present specialized instruction on high-tech equipment in the assigned area of responsibility

Pay

$93,000.00 to $116,000.00 per year (Washington state only), depending upon qualifications, experience, and other considerations permitted by law.
