About the role

As a Senior Automation Engineer supporting the MTO ASPEX Team at our Manufacturing Facility in Fort Worth, TX, you will serve as a technical lead and project manager implementing the latest technological advancements in manufacturing processes. This includes integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) systems, vision inspection systems, cobots, autonomous mobile robots (AMR), fully automated end-of-line packaging systems (case erecting, packing, sealing, and robotic palletizing), and automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).

Responsibilities

  • Program PLCs (Allen Bradley and Siemens) and provide software changes/updates support to manufacturing systems such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Advanced Track and Trace for Pharmaceuticals (ATTP).
  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for equipment installation.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations.
  • Develop user and design requirements, select equipment vendors, or complete technology design and equipment build.
  • Manage the installation of automation systems while ensuring safety and validate automated systems for adherence to requirements, CGMPs, and intended system operation.
  • Support Automation Technicians in troubleshooting or technology issues outside their expertise.
  • Interact with production supervisors/managers to identify areas for improving equipment throughput, flexibility, quality, safety, and/or reliability.
  • Implement automation solutions resulting from manufacturing non-conformance investigations or CAPA assignments.
  • Plan and execute engineering project work with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot equipment/process control systems and change control activities.
  • Manage multiple capital projects.
  • Design and implement modifications to existing manufacturing equipment to improve operational efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school diploma + 10 years; Associate’s degree + 6 years; Master’s degree + 0 years).
  • Ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Onsite role in Fort Worth, TX.
  • Up to 10% travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in engineering (electrical, chemical, mechanical, biomedical), computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering.
  • Relevant experience with manufacturing medical devices.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs and CAD design.
  • Project Management experience.
