About the Role

A master technician provides a high skill level for accurate vehicle maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles, ensuring exceptional service delivery while being mindful of expense controls. This role may involve working independently or in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes, transmission flushes, and vehicle inspections for mechanical deficiencies.
  • Handle medium/heavy truck repairs, including booms/hydraulics, electrical systems, complex repairs, design, and fabrication.
  • Perform diesel and transmission repairs.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance based on certification levels, such as OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, and drive line components.
  • Maintain and repair equipment, including cable trailers and laptop docking stations.
  • Keep the shop area clean and tidy, adhering to safety standards and proper disposal of fluids.
  • Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records.
  • Upfit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and on-board computer systems to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Engage in equipment design and moderate fabrication tasks, including welding, to provide custom equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs.
  • Perform roadside assistance as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record required.
  • 5+ years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Must continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status and stay updated with technology and fleet changes.
  • Must have diesel and transmission experience.
  • ASE Certification: A1-8 (L1 in emission states).

Skills

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute duties successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements.

Pay

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $26.73 - $40.10/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as location and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may also be eligible for additional compensation, including commission and incentive programs.

Benefits

  • Minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
