Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what’s possible within science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Author Trainer & Manager to lead training strategy, champion pedagogical excellence, and drive accessibility across our authoring community. This is a high-impact role that blends instructional design, people management, and cross-functional collaboration — ideal for someone who is equally comfortable facilitating a workshop, working closely with the prototyping team, and influencing product priorities in a leadership meeting.

Responsibilities

  • Training & Continuing Development
    • Plan, facilitate, and continuously improve Author Workshops and a multi-tiered training curriculum (L1–5) for new authors and Content Technology Developers (CTDs)
    • Manage the transition to a new authoring environment, including communication, roll out, training, and updating documentation
    • Coordinate and conduct training on AI usage across Courseware as needed
    • Deliver specialized training programs including Rev1 training, Train-the-Trainer series, alt text training, and assessments training
    • Champion AI adoption by facilitating training on new tools and workflows, driving awareness, and building team confidence
    • Maintain and update the Authoring Guide to reflect current best practices
    • Schedule and facilitate peer reviews, oversee the book club program, and manage the Tuesday Tips series
    • Plan and deliver or oversee New Markets trainings and occasional one-off trainings for sales representatives
  • Pedagogy
    • Work with pedagogy subject matter experts to evaluate how new tools and activities align with best instructional practices
    • Advise authors and CTDs on pedagogy implementation and answer related questions
    • Act as the primary point of contact for author questions on AI integration in content development
  • Accessibility
    • Own and advance the organization's content accessibility program, including tracking outstanding alt text and coordinating reviews
    • Identify and remediate non-alt text accessibility gaps across titles
    • Respond to content-related customer questions about accessibility
    • Facilitate the monthly Accessibility Work Group and participate in Wiley Accessibility Guild meetings
    • Advocate internally for accessibility features on the platform and stay current on evolving regulations
  • New Features & Tools
    • Own and maintain the Airtable database, including prioritization, automations, and updates
    • Communicate new feature requests clearly and gather additional information to support prioritization
    • Lead monthly prioritization and developer update meetings
    • Participate in bi-weekly Content/Product meetings to inform product roadmap decisions
    • Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts
  • Collaboration & Leadership
    • Collaborate regularly with the product and platform team
    • Represent the Training and Authoring function at leadership meetings as needed
    • Demonstrate executive presence through productive engagement, inspiration, and composure under pressure

Requirements

  • Proven experience in instructional design, author training, or a similar learning & development role, ideally within publishing or content technology
  • Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing direct reports
  • Deep familiarity with accessibility standards and a genuine commitment to inclusive content practices
  • Comfort with tools like Airtable and the ability to manage data systems independently
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complex topics for diverse audiences
  • A collaborative, calm, and influential presence in cross-functional settings

Benefits

  • Meeting-free Friday afternoons for focused work and professional development
  • Robust employee programming to foster community, learning, and growth
  • Comprehensive benefits package
