About the role
The Senior Attorney, School Based Help Desk provides legal representation and advocacy services to students in K-12 public schools. This role involves providing legal advice, counseling, and support to students and their families regarding educational rights and issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal representation and advocacy services to students in K-12 public schools.
- Counsel students and their families regarding educational rights and issues.
- Advocate for student rights and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to address student needs.
- Document cases and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience working with children and families in a legal setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to social justice and equity.
- Experience with special education law and civil rights issues.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
