About the role

Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. Within the Customer Services & Strategy teams, we build technology-led, data-driven products across Fraud, Recoveries, Collections, and Digital Servicing to deliver personalized, empathetic customer experiences at a massive scale.

We currently have multiple high-impact roles and are seeking high-caliber Senior Associate Product Managers to join our team. By applying to this role, you will be considered for critical initiatives across our core ecosystems, including:

  • Modernized Core Platform: Lead the charge on migrating US Card Recoveries onto Capital One’s next-generation data infrastructure. You will unlock platform capabilities that drive an estimated $200M+ in annual recoveries, and phase out legacy tech.
  • Agent & Customer Assist Platform (AI & Servicing): Accelerate the evolution of our comprehensive, AI-leveraged source of truth for all Card servicing policies. You’ll build and scale the intelligent tooling that empowers agents and digital channels to assist millions of customers daily.
  • Credit Bureau Disputes: Drive delivery for our Card Credit Bureau Disputes team, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and frictionless user experiences during critical financial moments.
  • Fraud & Disputes Back Office: Help drive the core backend technology that facilitates the intake, management, and resolution of Capital One customers’ problems with their transactions.

As a Senior Associate PM, you will own the translation of grand business vision into flawless technical execution. Depending on the role, your day-to-day will include:

Responsibilities

  • Platform & Data Modernization: Partner with Tech and Data Engineering to decommission legacy systems, refine next-gen data products, and build robust, foundational data capabilities.
  • Strategic Roadmapping: Define the MVP, ruthlessly prioritize the post-migration backlog, and build airtight business cases for what your team should tackle next and why.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the ultimate bridge between Business Analysts, Tech, Ops, Risk, and Design to deliver transformative customer outcomes.
  • Risk & Controls Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement a modernized suite of preventative controls directly into our platform architecture.

Growth Areas

In this role, you’ll learn the essentials of being a product manager, and we’ll invest in you to grow in four key areas:

  • Human Centered: Collaborate with tech teams to build comprehensive acceptance criteria, identifying and elevating any need for additional research to define future feature design. Break down business epics into features and further into user stories, driving your team towards the lowest effort or Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for a valid feature test.
  • Business Focused: Demonstrate a growth mindset, effectively use hypothesis-driven assessment of data to ensure your product or feature delivers on real business needs. Own and prioritize feature development roadmaps, ensuring all necessary processes and procedures are followed to manage risk.
  • Technology Driven: Work autonomously in an agile environment to conduct research and develop features that utilize new and evolving technology. Collaborate with designers, technologists, data scientists, and subject-matter experts to build cutting-edge solutions to help customers. Deliver well-managed product platforms for customers by seeking to understand technology trends and architecture strategy.
  • Transformational Leadership: Actively participate in horizontal forums to harness a network of trusted relationships among tech teams, designers, key internal stakeholders, and partner teams. Articulate a succinct product roadmap to deliver business value and share it with stakeholders, elevating your team’s results and becoming a product matter expert.

Qualifications

We want you if you are:

  • Intellectually Curious: You ask why, explore, and aren’t afraid to share your ideas or follow an email chain for weeks to find answers. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, eager to learn, and seek new challenges.
  • Communicator & Influencer: You can communicate complex ideas clearly regardless of audience. You rally associates to work with you and ensure the team knows their priorities and why they’re doing what they’re doing.
  • Do-er: You’re biased toward action, try things, and sometimes fail. You navigate roadblocks, stay focused on goals, and are well-organized, able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Passionate & Customer Focused: You care about growing others and bringing them together around what’s possible. You thrive on building and shipping products and have a desire to connect with customers to fully understand their needs.
  • Learner: You have an appetite to learn new things or technologies while exhibiting humbleness when asking for help.
  • Team Player: You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You put the team before yourself and establish long-lasting relationships.
