Senior Associate/Of Counsel - Public Finance (Albuquerque)

About the role

Taft is seeking a team‑oriented Senior Associate or Of Counsel to join its Public Finance group in the Albuquerque office. The firm is looking for an Associate or Of Counsel with 7–10 years of experience in public finance, municipal finance, economic development, or related transactional practice areas. The ideal candidate will have experience representing governmental entities, issuers, borrowers, underwriters, lenders, developers, or other transaction participants.

Responsibilities

• Serving as bond, issuer’s, tax, borrower’s, disclosure, or underwriter’s counsel
• Drafting and reviewing transaction documents
• Managing transactions through closing
• Advising clients on public finance, tax, securities, and state‑law matters

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in public finance, municipal finance, economic development, or related transactional practice
• Admission to the New Mexico Bar, or eligibility for admission

Qualifications

• Strong academic and professional credentials
• Excellent research, drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage matters independently in a collaborative, client‑focused environment
• Preferred experience with development and infrastructure financings, tax increment financing, special districts, housing, education, health care, transportation, or other public sector financings
