Senior Associate/Of Counsel - Private Client (Chicago)
About the role
Taft is looking for a team-oriented experienced attorney to join our Private Client group in the Chicago office.
Responsibilities
- Assisting executors and administrators, guiding them through every stage of settling an estate and administering trusts.
- Substantially experience drafting and preparing probate court filings, collecting and valuing estate assets, advising executors on paying creditors and taxes, drafting deeds and final accountings, and overseeing the distribution of estate assets to beneficiaries and trusts.
- Closing collaboration with senior partners, reviewing and refining administration documents and court filings, advising clients on trust administration matters, providing advice involving probate or trust litigation, and, over time, taking the lead on managing complex estate matters.
Requirements
- Significant experience assisting executors and administrators, guiding them through every stage of settling an estate and administering trusts.
- Substantial experience drafting and preparing probate court filings, collecting and valuing estate assets, advising executors on paying creditors and taxes, drafting deeds and final accountings, and overseeing the distribution of estate assets to beneficiaries and trusts.
- Excellent academic and professional credentials, strong analytical ability, drafting proficiency, and clear, practical communication skills.
