About the role

The Starbucks Creative Studio is on a mission to build world-class creative from the inside out. We’re an in-house creative studio who care deeply about brand, craft, storytelling, and creating solutions that actually move people. Our mission is to raise the bar on what in-house creative can be—and then raise it again.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of creatives like a boss (but not like a boss).
  • Mentor, inspire, and help them grow into their best creative selves (including overseeing their day-to-day workload and fostering their professional growth and development).
  • Make the work better. Guide problem solving, concepting, execution and consultation across brand design, design systems (packaging and signage), brand experiences and more.
  • Provide clear and constructive creative direction and feedback. Deliver presentations that demonstrate strong strategic foundations to support the creative vision.
  • Keep it on-brand and consistent, but never boring. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, agency teams, creative production and project managers to make sure everything aligns, sings, and ships on time.
  • Push boundaries. Help us evolve how Starbucks shows up in the world—visually, emotionally, and experientially—continuously seeking out and embracing opportunities to enhance the brand.
  • Be multifaceted. Span the entire brand, comfortable leveraging your background in graphic design, brand identity, typography, layout, retail experience, art direction, storytelling and ability to craft influential presentations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in design/marketing/advertising at an agency or in-house studio.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, fine arts, advertising or equivalent job-related experience.
  • A multi-faceted portfolio showcasing high quality creative expertise across a variety of mediums and channels within branding, advertising, problem solving / concepting, product / collection curation, packaging, social media, etc.
  • A comprehensive understanding of omnichannel marketing and cultural/industry trends.
  • Proven experience leading creative teams and managing direct reports.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and time management skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite & Figma.
