About the role
The Senior Associate, Compensation and Benefits (Transaction Tax) position within Alvarez & Marsal's CAB (Compensation and Benefits) Tax team focuses on providing practical tax advice to corporate and private equity clients during the transaction lifecycle. This role involves performing tax due diligence, reviewing compensation and benefits plans, and structuring transactions in a tax-efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and delivering quality tax planning approaches
- Conduct compensation due diligence, including equity plan reviews and golden parachute calculations
- Perform benefit plan due diligence, including retirement plan reviews and discrimination testing
- Review payroll tax treatments and withholding policies
- Review and comment on compensation and benefits aspects of financial models and purchase agreements
- Manage assigned workstreams and coordinate with cross-functional teams
- Communicate with clients to ensure project deliverables meet their expectations
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of compensation and benefits tax concepts
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; advanced degree/certification preferred (CPA, JD, LLM)
- 3+ years of compensation and benefits tax experience or 3+ years of tax due diligence experience
- Prior experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred
- Strong writing, analytical, research, and organizational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Personal motivation and collaboration abilities
- Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment

Pay
The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $135,000 annually, with a discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance. For details, please ask your recruiter.
