About the role
Trout CPA is seeking a Senior Accountant to support nonprofit and grant-funded clients through outsourced accounting and advisory services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain financial records for nonprofit and grant-funded clients
- Perform fund accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds
- Affiliate with grant compliance reporting, allowable cost tracking, and grant reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and account reconciliations
- Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Develop financial reports and dashboards for management and board meetings
- Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with Executive Directors, finance teams, and external auditors
- Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Affiliate with accounting software setup, maintenance, and process improvements
- Mentor and support team members as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting
- Experience with fund accounting and grant-funded organizations preferred
- Knowledge of nonprofit financial reporting and grant compliance requirements
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
