Responsibilities
- Researches, drafts, and argues pre-trial motions
- Conducts legal research
- Responds to discovery demands
- Met with defendants and witnesses
- Provides oversight, training, and mentorship to Assistant Public Defenders
- Assists with administrative leadership of the Public Defender’s Office as needed
Requirements
Law degree from an ABA-approved law school
J.D. required
Admitted to practice law in New York State
Qualifications
Experience in criminal law preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
