Responsibilities

• Aid in daily deli operations, including food preparation, service, and sales.
• Support the Deli Manager in staff scheduling and labor cost management.
• Oversee inventory management, ensuring orders, receiving, and stocking products are efficient.
• Maintain adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, keeping the work environment clean and organized.
• Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely, practicing rotation procedures for product date monitoring.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring high-quality deli team members.
• Provide training and development to deli staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
• Coach and mentor team members to improve performance and enhance customer service skills.
• Develop and implement merchandising strategies to boost sales.
• Ensure strict quality control measures are in place for all deli products.
• Practice appropriate portion control in deli production and service.
• Train and promote awareness of ads and specials to increase sales and profits.
• Regularly review the department to ensure cleanliness, freshness, stock levels, and creative merchandising.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
• Monitor and analyze profit and loss (P&L) statements, identifying areas for improvement.
• Demonstrate leadership qualities and contribute to creating a positive and productive work environment.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple demands, work under time pressure, and meet deadlines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Serv-Safe or similar certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in chain retail deli food service or restaurant management.
• Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• General knowledge of inventory management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Available to work any required shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Physical Abilities

• Reach overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 74 inches.
• Twist at the waist.
• Lift objects with both hands weighing up to 20 lbs.
• Push and pull grocery items to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 50 lbs.
• Stand and walk for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs., to a height of 34 inches.
• Bend and squat, at times all the way to floor level.
• Climb a ladder, possibly up to 5ft.
