Responsibilities

• Aid in daily deli operations, including food preparation, service, and sales.
• Support the Deli Manager in staff scheduling and labor cost management.
• Oversee inventory management, ensuring products are ordered, received, and stocked efficiently.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
• Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely, practicing rotation procedures for product freshness.
• Conduct effective interviews and provide training and development to deli staff.
• Coach and mentor team members, focusing on performance improvement and customer service.
• Develop and implement merchandising strategies to boost sales and quality control measures.
• Review department cleanliness, monitor food freshness, and ensure proper portion control.
• Train and promote awareness of advertisements and specials to increase sales and profits.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints, addressing issues promptly and professionally.
• Analyze profit and loss (P&L) statements, identifying areas for improvement.
• Create a positive and productive work environment through leadership and teamwork.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple demands and meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Serv-Safe or similar certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in chain retail deli food service or restaurant management.
• Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• General understanding of inventory management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Physical Abilities

• Reach overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 74 inches.
• Twist at the waist.
• Lift objects with both hands weighing up to 20 lbs.
• Push and pull grocery items to the proper locations, up to a peak force of 50 lbs.
• Stand and walk for long periods on hard surfaces.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. to a height of 34 inches.
• Bend and squat, at times all the way to floor level.
